ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has declared that seven more legislators’ degrees are fake, SAMAA reported Friday.

The series of the declaration and founding of fake degrees is entered in a critical situation and with every passind day, more and more fake degree cases are appering in public.
According to the HEC sources,10 universities of the country have completed their degrees scrutiny process and combinedly checked 67 MPs degrees and according to the latest development further 7 degrees have been declared fake by HEC. Among the owners of these degrees are included 2 MNAs, 2 Senators and 3 MPAs.
The names of these fake degrees holders are Abdul Qayyum Khan (MPA-KP), Abdul Samad Khan (MPA-Baluchistan), Wasim Gondal, PPP (MPA-Punjab), MNA Mazhar Hayat (PML-N), MNA Jawwad Hussain (FATA), Wali Muhammad Badini (Senator) and Nawabzada Muhammad Akbar (Senator).
At one side, the flow of the fake degrees is continues to increase while at the other side, members of the assemblies are totally irritated and annoyed with the reporting of these fake degrees by the media, and they have started to behave badly with the journalists and even passed a resolution against media in the Punjab Assembly.
The media also is very firm at its side and says that it will continue to report truth and make people aware of the misfits of their leaders and the media leaders has said that they will boycott the reporting of the provincial assemblies proceedings, till that resolution is not taken back by the Punjab Assembly and its members.
Earlier this fake degrees problem started several months ago in the current row, while originally it is running from years. This started immediately after the introduction of the B.A degree compulsion law, introduced by ex Military ruler General (retd) Parvez Musharaf. He introduced this special law for his ease and to restrict certain people from entering in the Parliament.
Immediately after the introduction of this particular bias law many people used fake degrees to reach in the assemblies but they were ignored intentionally on his own terms but many were kept under constant threat of being declared disqualified, especially those who used Madarssah certificates (considered to be equivalent to graduation degrees), but they were never declared disqualified apart from few exceptional cases.
Later on, General (retd) Parvez Mushraf removed this condition with an ordinance to accommodate his blue eyed boys specially the top slot of the new coordinating cum future’s accommodating ally party but everything changed rapidly and he could not benefit from his twisted new ordinance regarding degree requirement.
This recent row over fake degrees started with the fake degree case and resignation of MNA Jamshed Dasti but it took a very interesting twist with the re election of Jamshed Dasti on PPP Ticket. The PM of Pakistan himself went for his assistance during his by-election campaign but later on stunned everyone when he said on May 13, that the fake degree holders are not acceptable.
The PM Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani further added that the fake degree holders are insult of the parliament and they should not be allowed to participate in the elections.
During his address in the National Assembly, PM Gilani said that all the parties opposed the condition of degree except Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the parliament is not a rubber stamp but a sovereign institution.
The fake degree row entered in another phase when PML-Q MNA Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad Jatt, pre court verdict, resigned on June 14 for holding a fake degree. Nazir Jatt, apart from being a MNA of Pakistan Muslim League-Q, was also the Chairman of Standing Committee on Labor and Manpower. He won his seat from NA-167 Wihari.
After tendering his resignation to the Speaker of National Assembly, He also resigned from the party membership of PML-Q. Sources said that his conflicts erupted with party leadership and serious efforts were taken to tackle the situation but all in vain. Sources also disclosed that Jatt may join PML-N and He also decided not to persue his fake degree case in the Supreme Court, that was challenged by his voter, Naeem Sabir.
