Holbrooke graced us with his presence in rapt concern for Pakistan’s ‘abilities to withstand’ no additional funding for the IDP crisis owing to Global Financial crunch. In a Joint Press Conference with Ms Khar, Minister of State for Economic Affairs last week, he enlightened us of the deduction of USD 320 million announced in May for the IDPs from the overall Annual Package with no funding to meet the compounded problems of IDPs and WoT.
Obama Administration that doesn’t tire trumpeting the WoT cause seemed to have undergone a gigantic lapse of reasoning when it set Pakistan tripping on its toes over what was ‘a global threat’ only months ago. The country underway a critical roll-back to democracy with a lot to heal over on its plate had to be pushed to this point to get the Special Envoy (whose job is to worry about this region) start speculating.
Only two months ago some of the most renowned analysts and intellectuals were going berserk over what can be termed “Anti-American-Extremist-Muslim-Terrorists-taking-over-Pakistani-nukes Phobia!” And so, in a frenzy, all they did was Press Hard the infamous DO MORE button. And now, with the vapor of those exclamations still wafting in air, Pakistan was to be suddenly reminded of the ever-present global financial crunch that conveniently bails the world out of its due turn on meeting the kinematics of this supposedly ‘GLOBAL’ War against Terrorism.
Which is to say Hello folks (Pakistanis) you are several thousand feet above the ground but y’see, owing to the financial crunch we don’t think we could get you enough fuel so wait a while, hover around, beg us to help you off the plane we forced you to board and pray to Allah, of course it’s too late to quit!
Cuz here’s when we start thinking of what we have done. And now that we’re at it let’s take a look at this neighborhood of yours and maybe warm up with whom all you have ever shared is bitter history…. Beauteous! looks like ‘the great regional power’ would kill for a man-hug and maybe WE can team up and do away with THOSE who don’t like us *beaming* cuz we just can’t understand why they don’t like us *flustered* so we’d rather wipe out all that we don’t understand, which actually means a lot of work but oh! this financial crunch, how do we do all this please? Holbrooke? Kilkullen? Any new ideas ??
And Why On Earth Do You Guys Not Like Us???
Disappointingly ‘the man of acute intelligence’ too, sent out his special envoy to do the American way, covering the dead mouse under his picnic mat by telling us – the war fraught Pakistanis that we share with India, a common enemy. Notwithstanding the newly established evidence of Indian hand in the Lahore Liberty Roundabout Attack on Sri Lankan Cricket Team that terminally embarrassed Pakistan in addition to proving a heavy blow to Pakistan Cricket Board; the well known ‘suspicious’ Indian Consulates in Kandahar and the popular Indian accomplice, Brahamdagh Bhugti of BLA conniving against Pakistan with Indian money and arms. It is dizzying to read Dr. Singh accepting Indian involvement in Balochistan and this observation from the US Point Man, on the same page in the newspaper!
Sadly, the American way of looking at the world by forcing the monkey into believing it’s a cow and has been mistakenly taking itself for a monkey remains ad continuum under Obama Administration. If only clubbing together India and Pakistan in a Press Conference could make the blood bathed K go clean, or as an apt starter, could zip up the trust deficit between the two, then both countries would have been spewing milk and honey at each other in place of incessant nuke stockpiling, getting high on the Nuke Drug America introduced to the world.
It aches to read Mike Mullen confessing the hooie (Al-Jazeera) of Osama’s presence in Pakistan; the rumor has been ‘designed’, as he puts it, to be circulated amongst Pakistan’s elite in order to ensure America’s demands are complied with by Pakistan’s soldiers while fighting America’s war.
Could someone ask these folks whether a thing called ‘rationalization of these threats’ lie anywhere within the blind alleys of American comprehension? On what grounds can America snap Pakistan like a fly when it has not been able to subdue Taliban in Afghanistan for the past eight years with this all super, Super Power? Indeed American counterintelligence experts have begun to suggest that America needs 600,000 troops to stabilize Afghanistan, at a time when American troops are killing themselves or drinking themselves senseless to escape fear. It is time, high time, take out MI designer shades, step into broad daylight and see things as they are.
The audacity of hope hits the ever present pavement and hisses into placidity of the many para-realities. It is sad to wake up every morning with renewed hope in the world run by a solitary, self proclaimed savior, dying to believe in what it is; finding itself at war with the catastrophe of its own making; killing its own people along with rest of the earthlings while we sit here chasing drones around our heads.
